Grant Applications with SparkMap’s Community Needs Assessment
When I applied for a large grant to expand the number of counties served by my Qualified Fair Housing Enforcement Organization, I knew I would need to gather a significant amount of secondary data to justify our service area’s need for our extended services. This was especially important as the grant application specified that funding would only be granted to unserved or underserved areas.
While I had a robust collection of data on the county we currently served, I did not have enough data to relay to a funder why we needed to expand our service. This is why we turned to SparkMap’s Community Needs Assessment.
With the Community Needs Assessment, I was able to generate a report featuring up-to-date data on income rates, affordable and assisted housing availability, eviction rates, household structures, housing costs, and housing quality for my expanded service area. The report was remarkably thorough and included written explanations, tables, and clean data visualizations. I was able to download it as a Word document and integrate its contents smoothly in with my other application materials.
