New maps and data now available for Federally Qualified Health Centers

This indicator reports the number of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) in the community. This indicator is relevant because FQHCs are community assets that provide health care to vulnerable populations; they receive extra funding from the federal government to promote access to ambulatory care in areas designated as medically underserved.

New maps and data now available for population demographic and socioeconomic characteristics from the US Census Bureau’s American Communuity Survey (ACS).

American Community Survey data for the 2014-18 five-year period has been processed and released! These updates replace previous indicator data from the 2013-2017 five-year period.

New maps and data for tree canopy coverage coverage provided by the National Land Cover Database (NLCD)

NLCD tree canopy cover is a 30 m raster geospatial dataset that is available for the conterminous United States, coastal Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. These data contain percent tree canopy estimates, as a continuous variable, for each pixel across all land covers and types and are generated by the United States Forest Service (USFS).

Correction made to state and national estimates for Access to Primary Care indicator.

An error was identified following the 2/17/20 update of the Primary Care Physicians indicator. Following the update, a change in the underlying data resulted in population totals being doubled and rates halved for state and national-level calculations. Values for individual counties and custom report areas were unaffected. This error has been corrected.

New maps and data now available for multiple indicators from the US Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns dataset.

New maps and data now available for indicators from the 2017 US Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns (replacing data for 2016). Annual data depicting trends over time are now available for counties, states, and the US for 2010 through 2017.
