This layer displays the rate of hospital inpatient stays per 1,000 Medicare beneficiaries during the reference time period. Data layer can be toggled to show the total number and percentage of beneficiaries with an inpatient stay.
Maximum Temperature – Average Days Above 95th Percentile
This updated dataset reports the total number of days in which an extreme heat event was above 95th percentile between 2019-2021 at the county level. Data were obtained from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Environmental Public Health Tracking Network (EPHTN).
Kidney Disease Mortality for 2019-23 by County
This layer displays nephritis, nephrotic syndrome and nephrosis (kidney disease) mortality rates from the CDC’s National Vital Statistics System – Mortality database. Data are 5-year aggregates for 2019-23.
Maximum Temperature – Average Days Above 99th Percentile
This updated dataset reports the total number of days in which an extreme heat event was above a specific threshold in the 95th, 98th, and 99th percentile. Data were obtained from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Environmental Public Health Tracking Network (EPHTN).
Household Income of Out-Migrants, 2017-2018
This layer displays the adjusted gross income of out-migrants of United States counties between 2017-2018. This is calculated by dividing the total adjusted gross income of the county by the total number of out-migrants. Income values are based on federal tax filings.
Air Toxics – Non-Cancer Risk by Census Tract
Layer displays the modeled non-cancer risk associated with air toxics exposure. A hazard index (HI) of 1 or lower means air toxics are unlikely to cause adverse noncancer health effects over a lifetime of exposure.
Diabetes Among Medicare Beneficiaries by County, 2018
This layer displays the percentage of Medicare Beneficiaries with diabetes. The prevalence of chronic conditions among Medicare beneficiaries is based on Medicare insurance claims (for specific inpatient diagnosis or procedure codes) in 2018.
