This layer displays the mean distance travelled by commuters, based on the centroids of the census blocks in which the reside and work. The mean was calculated excluding those records where the distance travelled was over 125 miles one-way. Additional data layers are available which show the proportion of commuters with a short (< 5 miles), moderate (5 – 25 miles), long (25 – 75 miles), or very long (75 – 125 miles) commute.
