This indicator reports the total number of housing units and their occupancy status in the report area. Data are obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau Decennial Census 2020.

Source Description

The U.S. Census counts every resident in the United States. It is mandated by Article I, Section 2 of the Constitution and takes place every 10 years. The census collects information about the age, sex, race, and ethnicity of every person in the United States. The data collected by the decennial census determine the number of seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives and is also used to distribute billions in federal funds to local communities. Methodology

Housing units and occupancy status data are from the U.S. Census Bureau Decennial Census 2020. Mapped data are summarized to 2020 census tract boundaries. Vacancy rate is calculated using the following formula:

Vacancy Rate = [Total Vacant Housing Units] / [Total Housing Units] * 100.0
